Being someone who is all about comfort, wearing a jacket in the winter (especially in New England) is an absolute must. The one shitty thing about jackets though is that sometimes you take all that time in the morning, eye-to-rack with your closet, creating an amazing outfit then you cover it up with your jacket. This is one of the many reasons why I like to wear statement jackets because they instantly become the main attraction of my outfit (which is fine since I will probably spend my entire day bundled up in it).
One of my favorite new trends to try for winter is the crushed velvet jacket. These sweet jackets have an incredibly soft and fuzzy feel to them with a cool texture that will surely become a topic of conversation (obviously in the best way possible). If you’re someone who doesn’t want to go too crazy with your crushed velvet, consider a black jacket in the fun fabric. When the light hits it at certain angles, the jacket will give off an unexpected flair without being in your face fancy like the one I’m wearing.
Aside from crushed velvet jackets (or statement jackets in general), you’ll probably always catch me with a beanie (or MY BAKER BOY HAT!!) on my head. Not only does it look adorable, it will keep my little ears warm. I’ve always been a beanie person because for whatever reason it makes me feel a little more badass (and truly, people, who doesn’t want to feel like a baddie all the time?). I always tend to choose the beanies that don’t fold over as I like them to bundle up in the back with all the extra fabric.
How are you feeling about the crushed velvet trend? We just got in a cute crushed velvet romper at The Beauty Studio. Check it out here.
